Scam, 'phishing' and fraudulent correspondence and current security messagesThe DMO is from time to time made aware that fraudulent e-mails, letters, telephone calls and other correspondence using the DMO, Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt (CRND) or Public Works Loan Board (PWLB) logo or names have been received by individuals asking for their personal and/or bank account details. The DMO is a government agency and does not send correspondence or make phone calls of this nature. If you receive correspondence of this type and have any reason to doubt its legitimacy, do not respond to the e-mail or letters or give out personal details over the phone. If you receive phone calls that purport to be from the DMO, CRND or PWLB, you may wish to contact your telephone supplier. If you want to inform the DMO please do so via PressOfficer@dmo.gsi.gov.uk. The DMO does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage arising from contact with such correspondence. CRND scam emails - August / November 2009The DMO has received reports of fraudulent emails being sent to recipients claiming to originate from Jo Whelan, Robert Stheeman or the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt. The e-mail states that a National Debt Management Office has been established to oversee all financial transactions and informs the recipient their transfer is currently under investigation. The recipient is requested to contact the addressee directly to resolve the matter. The DMO (CRND and PWLB) do not send out emails of this nature.
