This page provides access to two reports which give statistics on how the size and composition of the gilt market have changed over time. Additional statistics on the gilt market appear in the DMO’s Quarterly Reviews.
The first report shows the total nominal amount outstanding for the entire gilt market at the end of each financial year, as well as providing a breakdown between conventional gilts and index-linked gilts. In addition, for each year it shows the total inflation uplifted nominal amount outstanding for index-linked gilts.
The second report shows the breakdown of the gilt market in percentage terms at the end of each financial year by type of instrument (e.g. conventional, undated, floating rate and index-linked gilt) and - within the conventional gilt category - by maturity.
